KWAITO lyricist Diliza (real name Delaney Dondo) is set to release a track titled Ama Hormones next month as a way of celebrating the gift of life during his birth month.
The track features kwaito legend Professor and is a follow up to Diliza’s first single Ngekaban’ LeParty that was released earlier this year under his newly established music record company, Progressive Records. This will be his second single with Professor after the all-popular Umcimbi hit.
Speaking from his Midrand base in South Africa, Diliza said having been hit hard by an illness last year that forced him to shelve his music career, he decided to record this song to celebrate life. The artiste, who has fully recovered, battled a chest infection.
“The song is coming out on September 3 — my birthday. It’s basically about good times, good vibes, all the good things you can think of,” said Diliza.
He said it feels great to be back in studio and being able to perform.
“Music is my life and being back in the studio is something that soothes my heart. Performing and mingling with my fans once again is something that I’d been longing for and something that I’ll continue to cherish for as long as I live,” said Diliza.
The artiste who hails from Bulawayo’s Luveve suburb reiterated that in the pipeline is a project that will see him return home to work closely with the country’s talented artistes if all goes according to plan. This will be done through Progressive Records whose purpose is to scout for talent in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Progressive Records label, like its name suggests seems to be making progress as it has already signed its first artiste, Bulawayo-based kwaito gem, Fab G Umshana kagogo.
Diliza however, said despite owning his own record label, he is still under South African Kwaito legend, Professor’s Proper Files record label. — @mthabisi_mthire.
