Dingumuzi Primary School in Plumtree, Matabeleland South province’s Mangwe District, is today (Wednesday) celebrating 100 years of existence under the theme “passing the torch from slates through chalkboard to ICT.”
The school has invited Mr Jeremiah Msimanga from iZimnyama Village, a former pupil who studied at the institution between 1955 and 1959, to serve as the guest of honour.

Other invited guests include officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, officials from the Public Service Commission (PSC), school heads from surrounding schools, local business stakeholders, councillors, members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), and other community representatives.
Dingumuzi is one of the oldest primary schools in Plumtree and the surrounding districts of Bulilima and Mangwe. It has an enrolment of more than 1,800 learners, from ECD A to Grade Seven, and a staff complement of 63 teachers.
Founded on 25 June 1925, the school had initially planned to mark its centenary last year but postponed the celebrations due to a clash with provincial games.
