Dino finally makes it

Rasta-kwasa musician, Dino Mudondo’s much-awaited 15th album is finally out.
The album titled “Ndakakupihwa naMwari” was at the centre of a storm when it was alleged that Diamond Studios was withholding the release due to contractual misunderstandings.

The album has been redone and is now out after almost a year of its initially scheduled release date.

The “Jatropha” hitmaker said all was now in order as he had managed to settle his differences with Diamond Studios, although he never got the master copy back.

“We never got the master copy back from Diamond Studios but managed to reproduce it and move on and this time around I worked with Russel “Russo” Chiradza who produced the album.

“Management has been provided by Blessing Joseph Entertainment Group, meaning everything now has moved away from Diamond,” said the musician who rose to fame with his hit “Makorokoto”.

Although the album was initially finished and actually launched in 2013, the contractual wars, which marred the project saw not even a single copy being made available to any radio station, meaning the album was never heard on air.

The singer, however, said even though he incurred extra costs, all was now water under the bridge as the new album is now available for sale against the odds. “After we fell out on contractual agreements, specifically because there wasn’t any signing fee, there was a stalemate as Diamond Studios withheld my master copy and we could not move forward.

“I was at some point told that the master copy was missing even from the files of the company and that did not help my cause in any way. We have, however, since moved on and worked hard to reach where we are now. “It might have taken long and cost me more to reproduce the album but I am grateful it all worked out well and to all the forces that wanted me down they should just know that God is for us all,” he said.

Mudondo revealed that plans were underway to go on a national tour meant to promote the album while video shootings for two of the songs “Wandava Naye” and “Dzandarota” from the album have already begun.

“We are looking forward to thoroughly market the project and as we speak, a nationwide tour is on the cards. Shootings for videos for the songs ‘Wandava Naye’ and ‘Dzandarota’ have also begun and very soon they will be out,” he said.

The “new” offering contains six tracks, which include the title track “Ndakakupiwa naMwari”, “Ndafunga Iwe”, “Denga Rechinomwe” as well as “Dzandarota”, which is a tribute to departed Zimbabwean celebrated figures such as Adam Ndlovu, Cephas Mashakada, Mbuya Miriam Mlambo and Safirio “Mukadota” Madzikatire amongst others.
