Dino, Willom reunite

DINO Mudondo and Willom Tight are back together, 17 years after their split.

The dynamic duo, who rocked the showbiz scene at the turn of the new millennium, went separate ways in 2006 to pursue solo careers.

Harare-based businessman and songwriter, Boss Kuno Mawire, brokered the deal.

Not only did he convince the pair to reunite but he is now managing the duo.

“I want to take Dino and Willom Tight to a new level,” said Mawire.

“It’s a pact that we hope will rekindle the good old days before their split.

“Our research has also shown that the pair needs each other and that they still have a big following, which needs them,” he said.

In the past few years, Zim dancehall has made a huge impression and eclipsed sungura, which used to be dominant.

After the death of Soul Jah Love in 2021, a new crop of artists, experimenting with new beats, has taken over.

However, Mawire remains confident the duo will rock the industry.

“We are not worried or concerned about what others are doing but we are simply focusing on our brand.

“To date, the guys have released a single named ‘LoveYangu Newe,’ which has a video and another track called Jambwa.

“I co-authored the song ‘Love Yangu Newe’ with them and that alone makes us unique.”

He added:

“At the moment, they simply operate as Dino Mudondo and Willom Tight or vice versa.

“We simply want to maintain that and we are going to run their affairs in a professional manner.

“We have also lined up a series of live performances in our quest to make an impression in showbiz once again.”

Dino and Willom showed fans that they still have the touch at the recently-held urban grooves concert featuring some of the pioneers of the genre.
