United Kingdom-based gospel musician Lewis Ngara has urged upcoming artistes to remain disciplined and focused in order to excel in the music industry.

Ngara said it took him years to have his music known.

“I remember that I started singing a long time ago, but the journey was not easy. If I was not sure of my purpose I would have given upon music two decades ago,” he said.

“It is during that phase that you have to maximise perfecting on your voice, lyrics ,style of music and most importantly character. It is character that sustains you when you become famous as well as consistency.”

He urged the young musicians to emphasise originality and exercise patience adding that success was a process that does not happen overnight.

The “Usarase Tariro” hit maker has vowed to continue mentoring more upcoming artistes with knowledge and finances.

“I decided to start helping other upcoming artistes who are talented but lack financial support to record their music. So far I have assisted more than 20 musicians,” said Ngara.

Some of them include Gwinyai Maphosa aka Gwimbo, Nyasha Nhandara, Rosa Muza, Blessing Manzvimbo, Kudakwashe Parimwa and Daniel Gonora.

He has been doing several other skits that are meant to teach people about the reality of life.
