THE expression “No one wants to be the ugly WAG” is about to be put to the test as Mzansi Magic will this Sunday introduce a new reality show on South Africa’s WAGS (wives and girlfriends of high-profile sportsmen).

Five of the most fame-hungry South African soccer wives and girlfriends will try to outdo each other in the reality TV show — Diski Divas, which premieres on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) at 6PM on Sunday.

The show will star Felicia Modise, the former wife of Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise, and Katlego Mohoaduba, of the Big Brother fame, who had a brief dalliance with former Kaizer Chiefs captain Jimmy Tau.

Also featured are celebrity fitness trainer Nonhle Ndala, the inamorata of Bafana Bafana star Andile Jali; Gaositwe Pule, the fiancee of Bafana Bafana and AFC Bournemouth striker Tokelo Rantie; and Wendy Parker, the wife of Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker.

According to Mzansi Magic, viewers should expect back-stabbing, glitz, glamour, fashion and parties as they will be taken into the lives and homes of the divas to get an up-close view of what it takes to live in the fast-paced world of football.

“Diski Divas will blow all contenders out of the water when viewers get a glimpse of how the soccer royalty babes live the life that ordinary folks only dream of.

“Viewers will also witness what it takes to live in this high stakes world — the drama, the back-stabbing, the fear of losing it all in one quick move. In short, Diski Divas will show what it takes for soccer’s royalty babes to get their hustle on,” said Mzansi Magic.

The show will follow the women’s journeys — where they come from; what it took to get where they are; their hopes and aspirations; the different aspects of their lives, from parenting to careers; the sacrifices they have had to make and the ups-and-downs of being in a scene that can be harsh and unforgiving.

Pivotal to all of these will be the Diski Diva’s relationships with their soccer playing men — both past and present.

Diski Divas will reveal the different worlds that Wendy, Katlego, Nonhle, Felicia and Gigi inhabit — different in so many ways yet with similarities that only those who know how to get their hustle on in the world of professional soccer know.
