Ditched man hangs self

A Rusape man hanged himself on Saturday after setting his ex-lover’s property on fire.

Manicaland Provincial police spokesman Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the incident.

“Charles Marume, aged 36 years, of Hondohwe Village, Chief Makoni, Rusape, hanged himself after a misunderstanding with his ex-girlfriend,” he said.

Police say on March 8 at around 11.30pm, Marume went to see his ex-girlfriend, Annah Dinginya (aged 42), at her house at Hondohwe Village under Chief Makoni in Rusape, with the intention of finding out why she had ended their love affair.

Marume discovered Dinginya in the company of another man and this did not go down well with him.

He smashed windowpanes at her house after she refused to open the doors before torching a thatched kitchen hut and two granaries.

Marume hid at nearby Maninga Mountain before informing his relatives that he was going to commit suicide. — Herald Reporter.
