ZIFA Southern Region Division Two pacesetters Talen Vision have vowed to put last week’s shock 0-1 defeat by LG Vultures behind them when they face bottom club East Rovers in Pumula on Saturday. The loss to Vultures was not only a dent on their maiden championship hopes, but a wake-up call for the side that still needs 15 points from their last eight games to gain promotion.
Talen Vision lead second placed ZRP Bulawayo Province by six points with eight games remaining before the curtain comes down on the season.
Their weekend opponents East Rovers slumped to their 17th defeat of the season when they fell 0-1 to fellow relegation candidates Zimplow.
Talen Vision chairman Otrick Siziba said: “I expect a tough game once again. We failed to beat them last time despite the fact that they’re at the bottom of the table, but we’ll prepare well for them to put our campaign back on track.
“The race is now heating up but I’m glad because our fate is in our hands since we’re yet to play all the teams that are just below us.”
Third placed Highlanders Academy would want to avoid a third straight defeat when they play relegation threatened Kombani FC at Barbourfields.
Mid table side Toronto FC welcome Ajax Hotspurs FC in Pumula on Saturday while Mpopoma Pirates date CS Distributors.
On Sunday, championship contenders ZRP Bulawayo will be out to get maximum points when they host Zimbabwe Saints at Fairbridge.
