IN what could be a major boost to female artistes living under the shadows of their male counterparts, Divine Assignments will tonight host a rare show dedicated to music divas.
Dubbed “Divas Night Out Show”, the event embraces the sterling job being done by artistes for the good of the industry.
What is really striking about this show is that youthful female artistes in the line-up have taken over at a time when the old generation has either retired or passed on.
Currently, Zimbabwe boasts an array of talented female artistes, namely Edith weUtonga, Tariro neGitare, Diana Samkange, Claire Nyakudya, Jean Masters, Rute Mbangwa and Ammara Brown who have managed to scale dizzy heights.
And tonight, all the eyes will be on inimitable Edith weUtonga, Jean Masters, Zoey Noleen Sifelani, special guest Rute Mbangwa among other female artistes who have been recommended by Tariro neGitare.
Energetic dancer-cum-musician Sista Kessia has also been invited.
Speaking ahead of the show, Divine Assignments’ representative DJ Triple said:
“We are hosting a unique show, which is dedicated to female artistes.
“We hope to create an environment where they get to meet each other and interact as a family exchanging notes as one family and the venue is Private Lounge.”
“Male artistes are also going to be part of the proceedings in particular Suluman Chimbetu, Progress Chipfumo and Kireni Zulu who have been doing business with Divine Assignments over the years,” he added.
Chimbetu blesses this occasion with a guest performance alongside Chipfumo while Kireni adds decency, event organisers say.
But it should be mentioned that all the attention would be on female artistes who have decided to team up with their male counterparts for this particular show.
The show starts around sunset till late and a number of more surprise guests will be in charge.
Veteran actor and script writer Taonga “CC” Mafundikwa and a surprise female poet will be the emcees of the night.
Fellow artistes are also welcome at this event where they are set to exchange notes under one roof.
