UNHERALDED Bulawayo dance group, the Divas feature on a video by budding musician Rivonia Ndaba, Thina Yithi aimed at encouraging youths in the country to take part in the forthcoming harmonised elections. The video was shot on Wednesday at Bradfield Shopping Complex, ZBC Montrose Studios and outside Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.
Thina Yithi is a single released by the musician-cum-dancer Ndaba last month.
The video will be on the market in a fortnight, just in time for the harmonised elections on 31 July.
In an interview, founder of the dance group, Michelle Madau said the video was aimed at marketing as well as encouraging the youths to vote in the elections.
“The youth are the future and as such the track encourages them to vote in the forthcoming elections,” said Madau.
The composer of the track, Ndaba is a member of the all female dance group.
The Divas was founded in February this year and consist of six, energetic and charismatic young ladies who specialise in pantsula, s’bujwa, ragga and hip-hop dances.
The Divas are professional dancers who also compile music videos and stage live opening acts for established musicians.
“We are saying to Zimbabwe that we are proud and independent women who are here to take our country’s entertainment industry to another level,” said Madau confidently.
She said unlike other dance groups in the country, they specialised only in local music.
“We only dance to our very own local music from our artistes in those four genres. In this way we will also be marketing our own local musicians,” said Madau.
