A senior soccer referees’ body member, Edson Nkau says Division One officiating is the final step towards being a Zifa Panelist which enables one to officiate in Castle Lager Premier Soccer League games.
Nkau was speaking on Saturday at a three-day workshop for Zifa Southern Region panel officials which began on Friday and ends on Sunday in Bulawayo.
“We are having a course for Class Ones and commissioners, Class One meaning referees who officiate in the Division One League. We have taken them through on Friday, Saturday, Saturday actually in the morning we had a fitness test under the watchful eyes of instructors,” said Nkau.
He said on Saturday they also looked at challenges (fouls) a key element of refereeing and the game; “They are very much ready for 2026. Our referees we encourage them to work very hard, this is a step for the Zifa Panel,” said Nkau who is a regional instructor.
