A woman demanded a relatively hefty a�?damagea�? compensation from her husband who declared that he wanted nothing to do with her ever since she put him on a sex embargo.
The wife, Etta Ngorima (72), was the subject of a story carried by B-Metro last month whereby her husband Jairos Ngorima (87) told the courts he wanted a divorce because the two were no longer having sex.
In a typical return leg revenge, testifying at the Bulawayo Civil Court, in a case in which she was seeking a protection order, Etta made it clear that getting rid of her would cost him a fortune.
Etta declared she would need 14 beasts because she gave her husband comfort and joy for 52 years during their marriage.
a�?His reasons for divorcing me are not convincing considering that we are an old couple which is supposed to lead by example. However, I am not against his application for divorce but what I want from him is damages in the form of cattle,a�? she said.
Then she gave a figure.
a�?I want 10 beasts as compensation for the children that I bore for him and for the comfort and love he enjoyed from me during the subsistence of our marriage. The other four beasts is payment for the physical abuse he perpetrated against me,a�? she said.
Etta has scars and permanent features to prove that her 52 years in marriage were a rough patch.
a�?I lost two front teeth as a result of his abuse. I need two beasts for each tooth. I am also shocked with his application for divorce since he is the only man I have known in my entire life,a�? she said.
Jairos Ngorima is not prepared to give her what she wants but he wants her out of his life.
Etta managed to get the magistratea��s ear when a protection order was granted in her favour which stated that Jiri should not verbally or physically abuse or threaten her in any way.
Earlier, when Jairos pleaded to be granted a divorce, he had disclosed his displeasure.
a�?Just imagine for the past 29 years we have been sleeping in separate bedrooms,a�? he said.
