DJ Cleo adds spark @ GirlFest 2024

Top South African kwaito, house, and hip-hop legend, DJ Cleo, will rekindle the connection he had with his fans at this year’s Girlfest Summer Retro edition taking place on Saturday at First Capital Sports Club in Mt Pleasant, Harare.

The women-only event is set to offer a dose of the old-school classics and playlists from the new-school entertainers.

Old school lovers have every reason to be ecstatic as South African producer and singer DJ Cleo (real name Cleopas Manyepao) is set to take fans down memory with his club bangers.

He also has a playlist of gospel songs, especially the spiritually uplifting track, ‘Gcina Impilo Yam’ featuring Bucy Radebe, which proved his versatility as an entertainer.

A tried and tested performer both regionally and internationally, the 44-year-old is expected to give merry-makers in Harare a real treat this weekend.

His set will also feature Alexio Kawara, the ‘Shaina’ hit-maker along with ladies’ man Trevor Dongo and Roki.

The trio is expected to take fans down memory lane to the urban grooves era when the likes of Roki commanded a huge following with sing-along tracks like ‘Chidzoka’, ‘Seiko’ featuring Leonard Mapfumo, ‘Suzzana’ among others.

For Dongo, he has been given yet another chance to shine as a talented composer whose music is therapeutic to those unlucky in love.

Songbird Tamy Moyo will represent the new crop of entertainers who are doing well along with rap sensation Voltz JT and energetic Zim dancehall star,Master H.

Rax The DJ, DJ Naida, DJ Iroq and hype-man, Abisha Palmer are also part of the bill.

The women-only run music extravaganza has never disappointed since its inception in 2019.

Girlfest has also left a mark in events management after proving that ladies are also capable promoters who can host big events.

This year’s edition, which kicks off at 11 am till late, will be a celebration of old-school classics and new-comers’ artistic creations.
