Jazz sensation, songwriter, and choreographer, Duduzile Manhenga, returns to the stage on Friday evening at the Zimbabwe German Society arena in Milton Park, Harare.
The Color Blu frontwoman, who started as a backing vocalist for established crooners including the likes of the late Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, Steve Dyer, Louis Mhlanga, Tanga wekwa Sando and Dumi Ngulube (late), needs no introduction in jazz circles.
Blessed with that wondrous voice, powerful stage communication, and engaging choreography, fans are in for a real treat tonight when she takes fans down memory lane.
In an interview with The Herald Arts ahead of tonight’s show, Dudu promised fans nothing but good memories.
“I am looking forward to the show where we are going to take fans down memory lane,” she said.
“I have been doing a lot of music, which I hope my fans will enjoy at this particular show. To be honest, I had missed my fans and I cannot wait to be reunited with them.”
Dudu, who was also inspired by the late Dorothy “Aunt Dot” Masuka, said she would not stop giving fans new music.
“I am releasing a new single today titled ‘Munotidisisa’ which I hope many people will fall in love with,” she said.
“The single is one of the projects that I have been working on this year. I am looking forward to the good show.”
Dudu is one of the seasoned female jazz musicians in the game who made a name for herself as a backing vocalist, songwriter, and later band leader.
Jazz lovers will easily remember her for popular songs such as ‘Mvura’, ‘Bengimthandile’ and ‘Madlamin’.
She also boasts of packaged albums such as ‘Jula’ released in (2007), ‘Towards Alignment’ (2009), ‘Ngangiwe’ (2011) and ‘For You’ (2013).
Dudu has also defied the odds that female musicians can also make it to the top through focus, hard work, and professionalism.
