THE Mapressa Glamour and Fashion Show, the brainchild of South Africa-based DJ Mapressa is set to take place on June 1 at Bez Valley Caravan Park in Johannesburg.

The event also known as Mapressa July was founded in 2022. It will be hosted by Zimbabwean-born Promise Sibanda and will feature participants from various parts of Zimbabwe, marking the contest’s third installment.

Unlike traditional pageants with stringent requirements, Mapressa July welcomes individuals of all ages, body types, and races.

Founder DJ Mapressa explained: “I came up with this concept as I realised that many people have the will to participate in beauty contests but are not awarded the chance to do so… My pageant does not restrict anyone because I realised that everyone is beautiful.”

This year’s event will also include male participants competing for the title of Mr Mapressa. Notable attendees will include South African celebrities such as Captain Nyawo (Uzalo actor) and Rapulani Seiphemo (tau on Generations), alongside Zimbabwean stars like Mzoe7 and Jaycee.

The crowned Miss Mapressa-Glamour 2024 will receive a sponsorship package including facilitation to attain a driver’s license, items from Just-easy Furniture shop, a Ngamo Safaris vacation package, and a night’s stay at Lavida Guest House.

The inaugural pageant in 2022 was won by Charlotte Moyo who hails from Tsholotsho’s Makhaza area, while last year’s winner, Mpumi Dumani, was from Plumtree’s Mpandeni area.
