HIS love for music is something that cannot be hidden or mistaken for something unreal.
Bhekinkosi Mabhena popularly known as DJ Nitefreak has once again proved that dreams and goals can be made a reality.
DJ Nitefreak recently released a remix for the song by eL– Jay and Friends titled Ode Ireti (Hunters of Hope).
This song has reached number two in the Beatport top10 in Madrid within a space of two weeks after its release.
This collaboration was made possible when the eL–Jay and Friends from New York approached Mabhena.
“I liked the vocals of the record and did a remix of the song after eL–Jay and Friends asked if I wanted to work on it. The work has paid off looking at how the people have received the song and it’s moving up the charts,” said DJ Nitefreak
The Afrocentric DJ’s music is being played in Spain, Germany, Kenya and Nigeria among other countries.
“I am simply doing what I love and I am not working for anyone. This has been an amazing experience and a humbling one. I am forever grateful for the talent I was given. The big message to artistes is that they should believe in themselves before making the world believe in them,” DJ Nitefreak added.
DJ Nitefreak also performed at the Victoria Falls Carnival in April this year . He worked with the likes of South African producer Vestaa on a record titled Ghost.
DJ Nitefreak has also released a remix for Magic System’s song Premier Gaou which opened many doors for him worldwide and that has seen him travel to East Africa for the Kenya Muze Open Air in June.
He, however, said producing music is no stroll in the park as it means hardwork.
“There are lows that come with this particular work such as long production hours, shortage of resources and equipment,” he said.
DJ Nitefreak started his music career in 2010 after his friend introduced him to DJ Software. This enabled him to start exploring his talent and perfecting his sound.
“To be honest no one inspired me to do music but instead I was born with it. I love music and I understand its value, the power it possesses and the messages it carries,” he said.
DJ Nitefreak has released about 26 songs featuring local and international artistes that include DJs. He signed songs with Union Records, Deep Root Records, Spinning Deep and Insomnia Records.
