South Africa-based hip-hop music producer and wheel spinner DJ Radix real name Malcom Nilton Ncube has finally dropped his much-anticipated Extended Play (EP) which is already making airwaves in most of the radio stations down under.
The EP which is titled Ignium comprises of only two songs, Sisa Jola featuring Cash Time and Teargas’s Ma-E and Bhlaklyt, and Di-Gal-Dem featuring Harare-based artiste Toptain.
From his base in Johannesburg, Radix, who signed with one of the world’s giant music distribution company Sony Music, revealed that the EP only has two tracks because it is meant to capture the audience’s attention before the release of a full-length album.
“This is a first EP to be released under my name and it is because of the appreciation I have received from South Africa, Zimbabwe and Africa at large. It only features two tracks because I want it to capture the audience’s attention before the release of a full-length album which will be release next year.”
With his origins traced from the dusty streets of Iminyela, one of the city of Kings’ old townships, Radix reconnected with the audience that groomed him and also localized his offering by working with fellow Zimbos on his mini-EP.
“On this offering, I managed to reconnect with my Kasi (Iminyela) roots because I wanted to stay intact with the people I represent. I featured Ma-E who is a Kasi hardcore rapper and Bhlaklyt on the song Sisa Jola, on the production of the song I worked with Mr Kamera who is also a Zimbo so as to balance Zimbabwe and South Africa on production terms,” said Radix.
The EP was first submitted to Mzansi’s radio stations and was officially released to the public on 01 December as an early Christmas present.
The two-track offering is now available on all digital music download platforms including iTunes, eMusic, Sound Cloud, to mention only a few.
Meanwhile, DJ Radix revealed that he is currently working on shooting Sisa Jola music video and fans should expect it by February next year.
