Chillspot disk jockey Tafadzwa Mandaza, popularly known as DJ Ribhe, has appeared in court on allegations of raping a 14-year-old girl.
Mandaza was not asked to plead to rape charges when he appeared before a Harare magistrate.
It is the State’s case that on October 16, 2024 at around 4 pm, the complainant had not returned home from school and her father was told that she had not been reporting for school for two consecutive days.
The court heard that on October 17 at around 10 pm, the minor went to Mandaza’s place in the company of other people and they proceeded to Mashwede Village.
It is alleged that while at Mashwede Village, Mandaza persuaded the complainant to drink an unknown substance and smoke shisha.
It is alleged that on October 18 at around 3 am, the complainant and Mandaza went to his place.
When the complainant woke up, she realised that Mandaza had had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The following day, the complainant was then located in Highfields after a missing person report was filed with the police.
The rape came to light on October 20, 2024, when the complainant spoke to her father.
Messers Dumisani Mtombeni and Stanley Matandadzi are representing Mandaza.
