SOUTH African DJ Shimza, real name Ashley Kholofelo Raphala, brought the house down at Club Eden on Saturday night with a three hour set featuring some of the latest house tunes.

The Channel O DJ who has made a name for himself in the neighbouring country kept revellers on their feet until the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The crowd was however considerably smaller than usual – the $10 charge at the door might have contributed to the low turnout.

Also, DJ Shimza’s show clashed with the Big Nuz Zerophobia Concert at the Large City Hall and the Freaky Barbie Dolls striptease show at Metropolis Night Club at Ascot Shopping Centre.

The show was themed “All Black Everything” and the ladies took the dress code seriously as they went all out to wear black outfits.

Some women went as far as ordering Johnny Walker Black or Double Black to blend in with the theme of the night. There were a handful of men that adhered to the dress code during the night.

On the turntables, DJ Shimza was in a league of his own. As soon as he took over the decks, there was a change in the nightspot’s atmosphere.

The DJ who is popular on the club scene down south, effortlessly kept the dance floor busy with his musical selection.
