Club DJ Stavo thrilled music lovers at Old Hararians over the weekend when he performed a cool mix of house and hip-hop.
The revered who has churned out club bangers such as “Teka Famba” and “Ingoma” was one of the DJs on the performing line up together with T Bass and P Stylez.The Kwekwe-based DJ Stavo whose real name is Steven Sanders came prepared for show and delivered one of his best acts for far in Harare.
The crowd enjoy his selection of music and danced the night away.
And when it was time for DJ Stavo, fans clamoured for more and he complied by throwing some serious house tunes. The show was one of the rare moments that DJ Stavo plays in Harare but he lived up to the billing.
DJ Stavo has worked with ExQ, MacD, Cindy and Roki, to name just a few in his various songs that have endeared him well to music fans not only in Zimbabwe but regionally.
His self-titled album carries tracks such as “Take Me There”, “I’m Not A Fool” and “Sweet Love”.
However, it was the video “Mnandi”, featuring multi-award-winning South African kwaito star Mandoza that made DJ Stavo an even bigger success story. The video was an instant hit on YouTube and popular satellite music station Channel O, where it was up for nomination due to its popularity.
DJ Stavo is one of a few cross-over artistes, able to work with artistes from any genre and to play for any type of audience. He has also worked with South African artiste “Lolo the First Lady of Soul Candi” as well as DJ Fresh, Masingita, DJ Kentphonik. His Kwekwe Hustler brand boasts a record label and a clothing line, which Stavo says is for the people of Kwekwe.
