SOUTH AFRICA’S DJ TIRA is still on the hunt for thugs who broke into his studio and stole recording equipment. He has increased the reward from R20 000 to R25 000 for anyone who can help him get his equipment, especially hard drives with unreleased music, back. Thugs broke into Afrotainment’s premises on 24 April night and cleaned up all studio equipment in Durban. Tira said they don’t have a lead on who stole his equipment at the moment and is appealing to anyone who could help them get it back. “The hard drives have unreleased music and if we can’t get them back, it’ll be a big problem. We lost everything in the studio, and we want it all back, but what I need more are the hard drives because that’s where we save all our work. It’s like our engine when we work. It’s heart breaking what thugs did to me. Anyone with information, please come forward,” he said. Afrotainment was launched in 2007 and signed DJ Cndo as the first artist and never looked back since. It became one of the respected record labels in Mzansi while it put Durban on the map. The record label, also known as Afro in short, has produced award-winning musicians, the likes of Big Nuz, Beast, Joocy, Qwabe twins, Duncan and Slender The DJ. KZN Police spokesman, Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the case of burglary to Daily Sun. “Police in Durban North have opened a case of burglary at a business premise following an alleged burglary on Ranleigh Crescent on the night of 24 April 2024. “It’s reported that the premises were accessed through the door and window by an unknown suspect(s), who reportedly stole equipment worth an undisclosed amount of money. No arrests have been made and investigations are underway,” he said. (source: www.snl24.com/dailysun)
