adminCape Town — Guinness World Records, the global authority on record-breaking achievements, yesterday announced the release of the new Guinness World Records 2016 Edition. Notable inclusions are world No 1 tennis star Novak Djokovic and All Black flyhalf Dan Carter. Djokovic, who won his third Wimbledon title this year, is recognised for winning the most Australian Open titles (five) as well as his mammoth 5-hour 33- minute match with Rafael Nadal in 2012 which is the longest Grand Slam final ever.
Serena Williams, also victorious at Wimbledon this year, is the highest earner ever in female tennis, accumulating £44,782,600 since turning professional in 1995.
In rugby, Carter is recognised for the most international conversions (260), penalties (258) and international points after amassing in excess of 1,500 points to date.
Carter, who will feature for the Kiwis at this year’s Rugby World Cup in England and Wales, will also become the highest paid rugby union player when he joins Racing Metro after the World Cup, earning a reported €1.5m as part of his one-year contract. — AP.
