INDIAN WELLS. — Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2 to successfully defend his Indian Wells tennis crown and claim his 50th career ATP title. Djokovic extended his lead at the top of the ATP rankings following his three-set victory over number two Federer in the final of the Indian Wells Masters on Sunday. In the latest rankings, released yesterday, Spaniard Rafael Nadal, Britain’s Andy Murray and Kei Nishikori complete the top five with Canadian Milos Raonic in sixth spot. But former Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland slipped one place to eighth following his second round exit in California, while Spaniard David Ferrer climbs one place to seventh. — AFP.
