THE Miller Genuine Draft Soundclash returns to Bulawayo with DJs battling it out for the final spots to represent the city at the national finals to be held next week in Harare. Three DJs from the city will be chosen for the national finals, but one spot has already been taken after DJ Kananjo beat DJ Prince at Club Eden at a Soundclash two weeks ago.
Today, a Soundclash will be held at Horizon Pub and Grill where, DJs Theo and Nospar will clash. Yesterday, DJs Mark Vusani, Kead Wikead and Vulcan clashed at the Lounge battling it out for honours.
The DJs who will come out tops from Bulawayo will go on to represent the city at the national finals taking place at Pariah State in Harare next weekend. There, the champion DJ will win an air ticket to Las Vegas for the global Miller Music Tour. The global Miller Music Tour will run from August 22 to 26 with 100 DJs drawn from around the world expected to attend the event.
After the national finals, a concert will be held on June 21 at the Glass House in Harare. Zimbabwe’s best DJ will rub shoulders with some of South Africa’s finest DJs including Fresh, Euphonik, Spectacular and artistes Knaves and Khuli Chana.
The Miller Genuine Draft Soundclash affords aspiring DJ’s the opportunity to earn a one-way VIP ticket to the decks of some of the hottest nightclubs on the African continent. The ultimate Miller Soundclash winner will play the opening set alongside a superstar DJ at a party to be held at Marquee Club, Las Vegas.
Bulawayo DJs who spoke to Chronicle Showbiz said they were confident of making it to the finals in Harare.
“I will definitely make it to the finals as I have been in this game for the past 14 years. I am a dancehall fanatic although I can play other music genres,” said DJ Vulcan.
Mark Vusani on the other hand said he was up for the challenge as he had also been deejaying for a long time.
DJ Theo who will be battling it out at Horizon said he would let his skills on the decks do all the talking.
“I won’t say a lot, because when you talk too much, you might have to eat your words. I am more than ready to book a place at the national finals,” he said.
His rival, DJ Nospar, who has been deejaying for three years, said he was also ready for the battle.
“I am a dancehall don. That is my strength although I can mix other types of music without a problem. I will do my best to win a place in the national finals,” said DJ Nospar.
