DODGY DEMBARE . . . contracts emerge asking players to commit to get bonuses end of season

Sports Reporter

FOR the better part of this year, Dynamos leaders have been selling the dummy that they agreed with their players for the footballers to get their winning bonuses at the end of the season.

However, the players have collectively been disputing this and it has been a major source of conflict at the Harare giants.

Now, it can be confirmed that such an outrageous arrangement, where winning bonuses can only be paid at the end of the season, DIDN’T exist at all.

Why?

Because the club’s leaders are scrambling to get the players to sign contracts agreeing to get bonuses at the end of the season, on condition they win the league.

The players were handed the contract yesterday at training and ordered to sign.

This proves that there was never an agreement about the bonuses because, if there was, the players would have signed these documents a long time ago.

H-Metro has a copy of the contract which reads:

“Following a series of discussions held between the club management, the technical team and the players of Dynamos FC, we write to confirm the agreed position reference the above subject:

“The payment of match bonuses for 2022 season, as initially indicated in the employment contract, shall be replaced by a bonus model approved by the Sponsor where a bonus lump sum payment will be paid to each qualifying player on condition that the club wins the 2022 PSL Castle Lager League Championship.

“This bonus payment, when equitably shared amongst the players, will be much more than what may accrue to each player in the contractually obtaining provisions.

“The Sakunda cost of living allowance, which each player has been getting since the beginning of the season, shall continue until further notice.

“This allowance, as earlier communicated, is to cushion each player from the month-on-month debilitating hardships that we are going through as an economy in order to safely sail through the waiting period to year-end bonuses.

“Meanwhile, the club management is confident that if each one of us continue to work hard, remain focused and apply the best in us, then surely we will attain our set targets and objectives for the 2022 season,” reads the contract.

DeMbare are away to Chicken Inn tomorrow and coach Tonderai Ndiraya believes it will be another tough examination of his men.

“Our preparations have been going on quite well, we are prepared to face Chicken Inn.

“We know it’s going to be a very difficult game but this is the phase that we are in at the moment.

“We are going through a difficult phase of difficult fixtures and we want to make sure that we finish this phase with something in our hands.

“So, we are going there with a lot of confidence and, hopefully, we can get a favourable result,” he said.

Ndiraya said they will give it their all in Bulawayo.

“I know it’s been very difficult for us to get a result in Bulawayo, particularly against Chicken Inn.

“But, we will give it our best shot, we are in for a fight.

“We have been doing quite well in the past games but I think we got a confidence-booster from the draw that we got.

“Hopefully, we can continue to get out these difficult moments,” he said

Dynamos are going into their game without some of their key players.

“We have Shadreck Nyahwa, who is out injured, Ralph Kawondera is out, Brendan Mpofu is out due to an illness, King Nadolo is also out.”
