THE owner of Scorpion Car Sale has appeared at the Mbare Magistrates’ Court facing a charge of culpable homicide after four Belgian Malinois dogs allegedly escaped from his premises and fatally attacked a man.

Gilbert Rumbwere (44) appeared before the regional magistrate, Mr Noel Mupeiwa, facing the charge and was remanded in custody to Monday for bail determination.

Rumbwere was represented by his lawyer, Mr Wellington Tiki Mutsvadziwa.

The State prosecutor, Mr Allen Chifokoyo, alleges that on September 24, 2026, at around 8 pm, Rumbwere failed to properly secure the premises at the corner of Willowvale Road and Harare Drive, resulting in four dogs escaping from the property.

It is alleged that the dogs attacked and bit Takudzwa Malcom Muzavazi, a resident of Warren Park.

The State alleges that Muzavazi sustained serious injuries during the attack. He was subsequently rushed to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Following investigations into the incident, police arrested Rumbwere, leading to his appearance in court.

The State is alleging that Rumbwere’s failure to secure the premises and restrain the dogs resulted in Muzavazi’s death.
