THREE suspected robbers have been arrested on allegations of stealing cash and valuables worth over US$1,2 million in Harare and Kwekwe.
The three suspects are Tendai Nzvenga (39), Dingani Mpofu (49) and Witness Hlongwane (40).
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests in a statement.
“On September 30, 2026, detectives from CID Homicide acted on information that one of the suspects, Tendai Nzvenga, was hiding in Mpopoma, Bulawayo,” he said.
“They conducted an operation which resulted in his arrest. Tendai Nzvenga is linked to three-armed robbery cases, including the one which occurred at N. Richards Shop in Graniteside, Harare, where cash and valuables worth US$38 316, ZAR1 950 and ZIG74 370 were stolen.”
The second case occurred in Marlborough, Harare, where cash and valuables worth approximately US$597 000 were stolen, while the third one occurred at a cement company in Redcliff, Kwekwe, where cash and valuables worth approximately US$600 612 were reportedly stolen.
Following his arrest, Nzvenga implicated other suspects, who include Dingani Mpofu (49) and Witness Hlongwane (40), who had been arrested earlier and remanded in custody.
In a separate incident, police in Bindura arrested Godfrey Chakawa (27), Bwana Jumbe (42) and Tombstone Gangata (34) in connection with an armed robbery incident at a mine in Bindura.
The suspects, together with three accomplices who are still at large, attacked two security guards and stole approximately 300 kg of pregnant gold carbon on September 25, 2026, at around 1 am.
The three suspects have since appeared before the Bindura Magistrate Court and were remanded in custody.
