United Kingdom-based Zimbabwean gospel musician Jane Doka celebrated her birthday yesterday and showed her gratitude to the creator and her growing multitude of followers, she released a single titled “Munochengeta”.

The single, which is a follow up song to the chart-topping “Gore Remakomborero” released in March this year, is part of Doka’s structured music project titled “The Faith Project” through which she is taking gospel music lovers on a journey of faith and trust in God.

“Munochengeta is a song of praise to the Lord Almighty for His protective hand and His faithfulness to us,” she said.

“It is an acknowledgement that God’s word where it says, ‘I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread,’ Psalms 37:25 NIV, stands true even in these very trying times we are in,” she said.

“As I celebrate another year through all the challenges of life, this is my gift to the fans and a show of gratitude to the maker.”

Doka said it was important that Zimbabweans continued to hold on to their faith through the challenges of life because no situation was permanent.

“We are confessing and believing that we are not forsaken, not abandoned, not forgotten because God is faithful,” she said. “God loves his people and he loves Zimbabwe even amidst all the challenges.

“The steadfast love of the Lord towards us never ceases and His mercies are new every morning, this is true. But what’s even more exciting is that God’s goodness and mercy towards us is not based on our works, neither is it a reward for our own righteousness, but it is all dependent on God.

“For we are saved by grace through faith and that grace is of God so that none of us can boast. God doesn’t see or judge us as people do, but he sees us through the eyes of His love and grace. We are affirming our trust in Him our keeper, our Ebenezer.”

“Munochengeta” was produced by Nigel Nyangombe, and Doka said she was excited about the release.

“The song is from the Faith Project and is part of the unfolding of the journey to the Faith Project. It was produced by Nigel Nyangombe.

“I am personally excited about this song and releasing it on my birthday makes it even more special. That praise, that proclamation of faith is just as personal to me because it is God who has kept me this far. I hope it will be as personal to many others, that’s my prayer.”

Doka has continued on a steady rise since she joined the mainstream music industry some years back.

“So far I have released four mega projects since joining the music industry in 2008,” she said. “The Faith Project is my fifth and Munochengeta is part of that initiative.

“The song is available on all online music sales and streaming platforms ,and I urge all gospel music lovers to download, stream and enjoy it.”

Apart from being a musician, Doka is an entrepreneur and a philanthropist with a charity organisation in the UK which helps re-integrate black and ethnic minority youths who have been to prison back into the community.

She is also studying towards a PhD in International Education and Development which is co-funded by World Vision.

Her study is aimed at improving the lives and educational outcomes of marginalised girls in Zimbabwe.
