DOMBOSHAVA-BASED entrepreneur, Collen Makondo, officially launched a venue, Schanmak Village, where he intends to develop a stylish place in Mashayamombe Village.
Makondo said Schanmak Village sought to promote local tourism.
He said his wish was to transform the venue into a local tourist attraction with visitors coming from all corners of the country.
“The land belonged to my parents, which they used for farming purposes,” he told H-Metro.
“What made us come to this decision was because Domboshava does not have places for people to enjoy themselves.
“We want to bring change in Domboshava as people always refer to it as ‘Kumagarden.’ The deal is to put Domboshava on the map, to have people from various cities and towns in our own space.
“Finding a wedding venue can be hard for happy couples in Domboshava, so we have decided to build ours from scratch.”
Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Mash East Regional Manager, Kudzayi Majuru said:
“A case for Domboshava event venues, such as Schanmak Village, can help boost the area via media exposure and, in turn, attract future visitors, provide local jobs and help make a case for local infrastructure improvements,” she said.
Once completed the Village will have a venue for wedding and parties, a 1000-seater conference facility, Shona cultural village, self-contained accommodation chalets, swimming pool and an area for activities.
