THE country’s domestic cricket season gets underway tomorrow with two Logan Cup first class matches lined up for Harare as well as Kwekwe.

At Harare Sports Club, Eagles are at home against Tuskers while at Kwekwe Sports, last season’s Logan Cup champions Mountaineers will seek to have a fine start to their title defence when they square off with Rhinos.

The season was meant to start yesterday with the four teams playing 50 over matches before the start of the Logan Cup fixtures tomorrow. Instead the 50 over matches will only take place on Saturday after the Logan Cup.

National team coaches have been spread around, Douglas Hondo is in charge of Tuskers, Stuart Matsikenyeri is with Eagles while Shepherd Makunura is the coach of Mountaineers.

A head coach is yet to be engaged for the Rhinos where Mufaro Chiturumani is in charge of the team on an interim basis until the appointment is made.

Nkosana Mpofu, Craig Ervine, Brian Chari, John Nyumbu, Christopher Mpofu, Thabo Mboyi, Shoun Handirisi, Ernest Masuku and Ainsley Ndlovu are some of the players expected to play a key role for Tuskers in the Logan Cup match against Eagles. Two former Tuskers players, Luke Jongwe and Richmond Mutumbami are now with Eagles.
