Domestic violence murders up

four of them were as a result of domestic violence.
Early this month,  police said five out of the 13 murder cases were as a result of the domestic disputes.
Some of the cases have been attributed to infidelity while others to long outstanding disputes.
Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Wayne Bvudzijena yesterday expressed concern over in an increase in such cases.
“Last week alone four out of the 12 murders recorded were of domestic violence leading to murder,” he said.
Snr Asst Comm Bvudzijena who could not divulge the details of some of the cases urged people to seek for assistance from the police and relatives and not resort to violence.
Several people have been killed while others injured countrywide as a result of domestic disputes.
Some people including children have also been killed during these disputes.
Last month, police in Shamva arrested a prominent MDC-T official Zivai Chimombe for allegedly murdering his wife following a domestic dispute.
Chimombe subsequently attempted suicide, but was rescued by neighbours before being taken to Mount Darwin Hospital under police guard.
A domestic dispute between a Hurungwe couple ended tragically when the husband fatally struck his one-year-old son strapped to the mother’s back, last month.
In January, a Chinamhora man reportedly poured paraffin on his wife and set her ablaze after she accused him of having an extra marital affair.
