DOMINANT, RUTHLESS HELLENIC

HELLENIC Academy continued their domination of the Melbury Cup, an inter-schools’ tennis competition, which has been running since 1963.

“Our girls have truly done Hellenic proud this weekend,” the school posted on their Facebook page.

“The Melbury Cup was presented by Sheila Dowdeswell in 1963, a girls’ inter-schools’ doubles competition.

“In order to promote tennis even more, the B Division was introduced in 2016 and the Mortimer family presented a trophy.

“Hellenic Academy first won the Melbury Cup in 2016 and have retained the title ever since (except for 2020 and 2021 when the event was not held).

“This year Hellenic have won the Melbury Cup with Chisipite A as the runners-up. The Hellenic team won the Mortimer Trophy with Falcon being the runners-up.

“We are very proud of our girls for this notable achievement. We also congratulate Falcon College, who have been promoted to the A League for 2023.”
