CHEGUTU Pirates has lured back their former striker, Simbarashe Domingo, who had moved to Shabanie Mine, as they reinforce their side for the second half of the season in the World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league. Domingo joined Shabanie early this year but has been struggling to make it into the first team and Pirates’ team manager, Emmanuel Gutu, said they have acquired the services of Domingo for the next six months on loan.
“We hope to survive relegation now because if you look at the statistics we were not scoring but now that we have registered Domingo we hope goals will start to come.
“He is also a crowd puller so it will boost our coffers.
I can say it’s our secret weapon for the second half of the season. We hope good times will roll.
“He was our top goalscorer last season,” said Gutu.
Reports say some of the players who left the club just before the mid-season break now wanted to return to the club.
However, Gutu said there is no room for them as they have already signed new players.
Pirates coach, Gipter Raiva, this week said they were in the league to stay and they will fight for their place.
“We are becoming better in all our games.
We are in the league to stay. At one point we were nine points behind the team that was ahead of us but now we are closing on the gap.
“The next three games, if we manage to win, we won’t be at the bottom of the log. We now have the confidence, the chairman and the players,” said Raiva.
