DONALD Mudadi was the star, with a brace of beauties from distance, as Dynamos players bought more time for their coach Herbert “Jompano” Maruwa with a crushing 3-0 victory over ZPC Kariba.
The midfielder scored either side of the half, with goals rich in both technique and precision, at the National Sports Stadium.
Maruwa, who would have been fired if he had not won yesterday, must have been left wondering where was all this quality when his side were stumbling to draws in the matches which led to his bosses issuing an ultimatum.
He said he was never advised about the ultimatum.
“It’s easy news to me, I have been reading from the media, what I know is I’m in charge and I’m now shifting focus to our game against Black Rhinos.
“I have always said that goals will come, today it happened and we are now preparing for our next assignment.
“I spoke to the boys after that loss against Ngezi Platinum Stars, and they responded well with a changed mentality to get the desired points.”
The Glamour Boys came into this fixture on the back of a miserable five-match winless run.
Elton Chikona opened the scoring from close range in the 22th minute before ZPC Kariba’s Leroy Murape was denied by the upright.
Mudadi doubled their lead with a stunner from range.
After Emmanuel Jalai was denied by the post Mudadi capped off his fine day with a long range effort as he caught ‘keeper Tapiwa Chilenga, off guard, in stoppage time to take his tally to five goals.
ZPC Kariba coach, Newsome Mutema, was left to rue their missed chances.
“It was a game where we didn’t take our chances and I think our opponents got it right there when they took their own chances.”
Dynamos are now fifth on the Castle Lager Premiership table and have reduced the deficit to four points.
RESULTS
