DON’T CLOSE SANITARY LANES, SAYS COUNCIL

H-Metro Reporter

HARARE City Council has warned property owners and shop owners in the Central Business District against closing off sanitary lanes, as it inhibits waste collection in the area.

Council’s amenities manager, Lisben Chipfunde, said sanitary lanes are designed to provide leeway for service vehicles, such as delivery and garbage collection trucks.

He said property owners are encouraged to put their waste bins in sanitary lanes for collection by Council employees.

“Those found dumping waste illegally at bus terminuses will be arrested and fined.

“Fines for individuals are US$35, and US$315 for property owners,” he warned.
