Don’t give up, rise up

Charles Mungoshi Jnr. Versatile Fufu
He sat there drenched in mud on a rainy day — defined by flush floods and thunder, lightning and dark clouds ceiling the earth. Taurai, lazily sat dirt-coated with no thought of picking himself up. The rain kept pouring hard — people looked on him with this sorry eye. This wasn’t Taurai’s baby to nurse, he cared less of the thoughts people had, but Tau shamwari you have to realise that the dirt is not working.

Don’t blame your situation on the environment, it is not the economy — no it is you! You are lazy to work. Now look at where you are dirt — covered — muddied by nature. This is all because you refuse to go job hunting. You have designed your mind to respond with negativity to the outlook of the national state. I know, you have heard the thousands being retrenched and you retrenched yourself from looking for a job.

Tau the certificates you piled under your mattress are changing colour and getting moulds. This is the case — those university certifications need maturity to understand, you can have them but not have the ability to apply the knowledge in today. You have to know that sitting there trying to lure mercy from those walking or passing by will never change your situation.

Rise from the slumber! Quit quitting on life, it is what you make it! Tau, sit in that mud and reflect on your life — but don’t sit in that mud to pity yourself. Think of what you enjoy doing that has positive results, always know that all good doing pays well.

Look even the rowdy boys from school are doing something on the street — touting and pocketing two dollars per transaction. It is against the law but that’s the attitude — if the society cannot employ you employ the society — always know someone wants what you have. Your strength is embedded in knowing your uniqueness.

You have a gift, take time to discover yourself just don’t go with the crowds — if most people are selling sweets by street corners it doesn’t mean you can. Why do you want the easy way out? Get hard on the desire to be someone. Have the desire Taurai, you have to want it, build the enthusiasm — get excited by the fact that you have a desire to make it. It is time to rise from the slumber brother, get up and get going.

Taurai opportunities are vast, open your eyes and quit the blame game, don’t blame the Government, your parents, God, or the environment even yourself — just get up and get going! Sure thing you can do it — there is place for you at the top!
