THE Zanu-PF Mashonaland Central leadership has castigated party cadres who spread rumours to the effect that the provincial chairperson should be replaced.
This emerged at an inter-district meeting held in Mt Darwin last weekend to thank the people for voting overwhelmingly for the party where Politburo member and Member of National Assembly for Bindura South, Cde Kenneth Musanhi said such unbecoming behaviour was unacceptable.
“Let us not follow people who behave like touts who go from leader to leader when they are broke telling them that this leader is bad and should go,” he said.
“We will not move forward if we listen to such utterances. This causes divisions in the party.
“I want to thank the provincial chairman (Cde Kazembe Kazembe) for steering our party to a convincing election victory. I urge you not to listen to rumours which are being spread by some malicious people.
“Why should people want to remove a chairman who did such a wonderful job like this?
“Let us focus on where we want to go in terms of development. We don’t want to watch other provinces developing while we are busy fighting, so let us unite.”
Politburo member and Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement, Cde Perrance Shiri, urged the provincial party leadership to unite as a Zanu-PF family, saying differences should be solved amicably.
Speaking at the same meeting, provincial chairman and Minister of Information Communication Technology and Courier Services, Kazembe Kazembe, also called for unity.
“As the leadership, we should unite,” he said. “We should ask ourselves where the province is going in terms of development and where we will be at the end of five years.
“The other issue is that of discipline. Let us unite and follow the party’s ideology.
“Let us not divide the people. If as the leadership we are united, the people we lead will follow suit. So, let us work together like what we did when we convincingly won the elections.
“Let us not point fingers at each other. We no longer want to accuse each other of belonging to certain factions like G40, we are all Zanu-PF people.”
