EIGHTEEN-year-old Anotidaishe Junior Zvomuya from Chitungwiza is making a name for himself through content creation, and gaining followers as his page, Skits by Spina, grows.
Most content creators sprouted around the Covid-19 era as people tried to cope with the lockdown.
However, for Spina, as he is affectionately known, it was not the case as he had studies to pursue, yet the urge to create content kept growing.
In an interview, the talented artiste who started in high school said he manages to balance his studies and comedy.
“I kept suppressing my inner abilities, and I was in school plays. I did not want to expose myself as I had school work to focus on, but you know when an urge is strong, it becomes an itch, and if you do not scratch it, it becomes irritating,”
Acting on the urge, Spina decided to launch himself in 2021, and to date has managed to garner a decent following on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram andTiktok. He is now setting his eyes on X.
“Having worked with other content creators, I have established myself in the sector. Despite the minimal success, I still need to push and realise my goals.
“My inspiration is Steven Talker from Nigeria,” he said.
“My mother has been my biggest fan and my support system. I might still be young, but her being able to support me through this is the greatest love of all. I am fortunate enough to have her backing.”
Still managing and tackling teenage life, Spina believes talent has to be complemented by decent behaviour and wise choices.
“You know as teenagers we are often labelled and that has in a way created stigmatisation. Everybody tends to believe we all are rebels without a cause.
“Yet all we are trying to do is work on ourselves to be a better people. Give us a chance and believe in us.
“Let us learn from our choices and be guided by our experiences as adults. Just do not write us off simply because we are teenagers. Everybody deserves a fair chance,” he added.
Like every other child, Spina dreams of brighter days.
Skits have changed his life positively as he showcases his talent, delivering laughter and raising social awareness.
“In the next five years, I would have reached international level. I have Anum Studio catering for budding artistes where we nurture talent.
“I aim to venture into production making movies with locally grown talent and plough back into the Zimbabwean filming industry,” he said.
Although Spina targets a mainline audience of his generation due to his age, he has managed to attract an even broader following from older viewers.
