HAILING from Mutare, Dorcas Moyo and Argatha Murudzwa are renowned for their exceptional talent in gospel music. Whether at church conferences, State functions, or private events, they consistently deliver outstanding performances.
Their choreography is on another level, showcasing their artistic prowess.
Blessed with powerful voices that resonate joyfully, a commanding stage presence, and high-energy performances, these two stalwarts of praise and worship — Dorcas Moyo and Argatha Murudzwa have proven themselves time and again.
Both sisters of Zim gospel have been active in the industry for years, but tomorrow marks a huge milestone as they launch their respective albums in Mutare and Harare.
Moyo will unveil her 10th album, titled “Mugeri Tsvatu,” at the Manicaland Showgrounds, with support from notable artists such as Leonard Zhakata, Alick Macheso, Suluman Chimbetu, King David (formerly Baba Harare), Aston “Mbeu” Nyahora, Fungisai Zvakavapano, and Mai Charamba.
Simultaneously, Murudzwa will launch her 18th album, “The Sermon,” at David Livingstone Primary School in Harare, featuring fellow artists Mai Respina Patai, Trymore Bande, Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, Minister Michael Mahendere, and Psalmist Lamondy Dube.
Now that the stage has been set for the two sisters in Christ, expectations are high on who has nailed it or not. Comparisons will always be there considering that they have invested heavily in their events.
For Moyo, she appears to have an upper hand, considering the star-studded line-up of crowd-pullers.
Who doesn’t love Macheso in Mutare? What about Sulu and Zhakata’s presence? With Mai Charamba and Fungisai Zvakavapano being part of this strong line-up, surely fans are in for a real treat at this event!
It will be more than just an album launch, but a deserved summer ignition party.
For the lady of the day — Dorcas Moyo — she will be out to return the favour and show how synergies, collaborations, and consistency have worked for her.
With expectations high, she has nothing to worry about, except for Blessing Shumba, who might not be able to attend after making multiple bookings.
“We have covered everything, and we want to make it a big musical extravaganza in Mutare,” she stated. The issue of Blessing Shumba, who has several commitments, won’t deter us. We are committed to ensuring that fans come and enjoy their day. We have covered our part, and fans should simply come and enjoy with us,” she stressed, assuring fans all was now in place.
Her fellow counterpart — Murudzwa — has been in the game for years, and it will be a day to show that nothing beats experience. Although she was also concerned about Shumba’s availability, she remains in high spirits.
“We are geared for the Harare launch, but the issue of Blessing Shumba has made it appear like I have bad blood with Dorcas Moyo, my sister from Mutare. When I booked him, he said he was comfortable with the arrangement and insisted he was coming to Harare. Blessing Shumba still maintains his availability, and I am hopeful that he makes it on the day in question,” she stressed in an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub.
Looking at the line-up, Murudzwa has a list of performers who can bring their A-game and class. Minister Mahendere has proven to be a crowd-puller in his own right, and he is used to such events. Coming from the same generation as Murudzwa before he became his own man, Minister Mahendere can be a game-changer at this launch. With Baba Manyeruke in the line-up, variety is guaranteed, and he will certainly bring decency to the launch.
Will it be Dorcas Moyo or Argatha Murudzwa’s biggest defining moment tomorrow? Only God knows.
