Upcoming dendera musician Douglas Chimbetu pictured) is expected to perform on December 6 at the Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza.
Douglas, known by his legion of fans as “King Dougie”, will join other big names in the music — Oliver Mtukudzi, Alick Macheso and contemporary musician Jah Prayzah in a musical fiesta that is expected to illuminate the dormitory town of Chitungwiza.
The young crooner will, however, need to go the extra mile in his stage work, to prove that he is an able performer, and can measure up to any task.
Barely a year after he took over the band from his father Allan, Douglas has been executing his new task with diligence and has so far showed a high level of ingenuity. While many may want to classify him as a minnow, his stage work is undoubtedly tight and he exudes confidence, when he gets on the microphone.
Douglas’ clear but very exuberant voice defines his dendera music from the rest, something that has endeared him with dendera fans from the time he started.
It is the same uniqueness and flawless act he intends to deliver when he joins Alick, Tuku and Jah Prayzah on stage next week, during the annual gig, that has made Aquatic Complex its traditional venue.
The beauty about this event is that it will give the young crooner an opportunity to showcase his talent in front of a diverse but huge crowd, something he badly needs to take his career to the next level.
Douglas’ debut album “Tsimba” has been well received with fans and tracks like “Vahosi”, and “Chispen” have been well received by fans across the country.
