DOWN AND OUT!. . . Kadewere gutted by injury

FC Nantes forward Tino Kadewere has been left gutted after being ruled out of the Warriors camp ahead of AFCON qualifier clashes against Kenya and Cameroon after picking an injury.

He was involved in their 3-1 win over Les Canaris where he got injured towards the end of the match.

Kadewere was expected to add depth to the Warriors’ attacking fold joining hands with Khama Billiat, Tawanda Masvanhise, Prince Dube, and Obriel Chirinda.

Manica Diamonds Farai Banda was brought in as a direct replacement for Kadewere.

Brendan Galloway was also ruled out of this trip due to an injury. This implies that newly appointed coach Michael Nees will go into battle without two of his preferred choices.

Speaking to Zimpapers Sport, Kadewere expressed his disappointment:

“I am disappointed but still it’s part of the game and it happens. So the best way now is to fight through it and return stronger.

“I pray that l get better soon and keep on playing the beautiful game that l love”

“The injury came at the wrong time and of course, it hurts a lot, but I can do nothing.

“I was really looking forward to playing for my country and do my best because it’s every player’s wish to represent their country.

“But injuries are part of football, it’s something that is inevitable.

“The goal now is to work extra hard during rehab so that I come back strong and ready to go again, “he said.

“I wish all my teammates the best. I am confident that they will lift our flag high. I know what they’re capable of doing, we have a good team with the best players.

“A win in both encounters will put us at an advantage so ‘Go Warriors Go’,” he said.

Kadewere was named in the LIGUE 1 team of the week game week 3 after providing two assists that powered his side to an important win.

“It always feels great to be recognised and it works as well as a motivation.

“I am grateful to my teammates because it is a team effort and I’m looking forward to picking up from where I left.

“It’s always good to keep the momentum and push hard for improvement.”
