The DPRK is known worldwide as a country of strong independence as it always maintains the principle of independent politics, selfsupporting economy and selfreliant national defence. It has demonstrated its dignity of independent politics.
In the years after the country’s liberation when President Kim Il Sung was leading the efforts to build a new society, he adopted progressive democracy of the Korean style, which was neither Soviet style nor American style, and indicated the road the country should follow in its socialist revolution and construction.
Throughout its history, the DPRK has resolutely rejected the intervention and pressure by greatpower chauvinists and kept to the independent stand, insisting that there can be big and small countries but no senior and junior ones in international relations.
The line of Songun politics advanced by leader Kim Jong Il who carried forward the ideas and cause of Kim Il Sung, was to all intents and purposes an independent line ensuring reliable defence of the sovereignty and dignity of the country by efforts of Koreans in today’s world, in
which the moves of aggression and arbitrariness of the imperialist superpower reached the extreme.
In recent years, the DPRK has launched artificial satellites in the face of the pressure of big countries as a lawful right of a sovereign state.
This fact alone demonstrated patently to the international community Korea’s strong independent stand.
Today the DPRK with a glorious 60 odd-year history as a country strong in independence is now led by Kim Jong Un.
Kim Jong Un, standing in the van of the Korean revolution, is leading the DPRK to consolidate its position of a politically and ideologically strong nation and a military power and to reach the targets of an economic power.
In his talks with senior officials of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea on July 26, 2012, he called to step up the building of a prosperous country by embodying Kim Jong Il’s patriotism.
He said it is very important to embody Kim Jong Il’s patriotism in the struggle to build a prospering socialist country. Kim Jong Il was a peerless patriot; he loved the country and people more than any others did and devoted his whole life for prosperity of the country and happiness of people, performing immortal exploits.
Education in Kim Jong Il’s patriotism should be based on reality and conducted in keeping with the specific situations.
Patriotism is not an abstract concept. It begins from one’s own home. It buds out from the love for one’s parents, spouses and children, the love for one’s own home, village and workplace, and further develops into the love for one’s country and fellow people. Those who do not cherish affection for their parents, spouses and children and for their homes, villages and workplaces cannot love their country and fellow people; they can never become genuine patriots.
The highest expression of patriotism is found in defending the motherland. The life dedicated to national defence is the most valuable, patriotic life. The service personnel of the Army who are standing in the forefront of national defence should firmly grasp the weapons of the revolution, and reliably defend the outposts of the country; the people in the home front should support their country through sincere aid to the service personnel.
Kim Jong Un stressed that officials should be exemplary in applying Kim Jong Il’s patriotism.
They should not remain only worrying about their country; they should become genuine patriots who are ready to throw themselves into supporting the country.
When the officials, who have to serve the people, make tireless efforts shedding sweat to make the country prosperous and provide people with an abundant life, people would give cheers for the Workers’ Party from the bottom of their hearts whenever and wherever they may be.
When the whole country brims over with Kim Jong Il’s patriotism and all the people apply it to the letter in their practical activities, the country will shine in the world as a thriving socialist country.
Kim Jong Un appealed to all officials, party members and working people to follow the example of Kim Jong Il’s patriotism and embody it in their practice.
