Dr Nzuwah burial tomorrow

President Mnangagwa will tomorrow preside over the burial of former Public Service Commission Chairperson Dr Mariyawanda Nzuwah, who died on Tuesday and was declared a National Hero.

Dr Nzuwah, who was at the helm of the public service commission for 26 years, was instrumental in shaping Zimbabwe’s public service sector.
Home Affairs and And Cultural Heritage Minister Hon Kazembe Kazembe told The Herald that the burial will be in strict observance of Covid-19 protocols.
“The President will preside over the burial of Dr Nzuwah, mourners should be seated by 9am and only invited persons should come as we are still observing measures to curb Covid-19,” said Hon Kazembe.

Born in 1941, Dr Nzuwa left Zimbabwe in the 1960s to pursue studies in public administration at the University of Minnesota in the United States.

When he returned to Zimbabwe, he was appointed secretary for the then Roads and Road Traffic Ministry in 1980.

He held several other portfolios before being appointed chairperson of the Public Service Commission Chairperson in 1992, a position he held for 26 years.
