THERE was drama at a Mt Pleasant butchery yesterday after a customer clashed with management as he claimed he had been sold rotten meat.
Billy’s Meats, located at the Bond Shopping Centre in Mt Pleasant, is being accused of cutting costs by selling substandard meat.
The butchery opened another branch, at the same shopping centre, where cheaper meat, dubbed Bakosi is sold.
However, some now claim that most of this meat would be sub-standard and not fit for human consumption.
“We welcomed the selling of meat in small quantities, but the butchery is now taking advantage by selling us rotten meat,” claimed one costumer.
“We earn very little, but the butchery must not take advantage of us and risk our health.”

One angry customer yesterday returned the meat he had bought from the particular branch after noticing it had gone bad.
H-Metro witnessed the incident.
A manager at the shop confirmed, on camera, that the meat was bad and reimbursed the customer.
“You were supposed to bring your complaints to me instead of the butchery attendant,” said the manager.

“I can facilitate that you get good meat or we reimburse you.”
The customer challenged the manager to ensure they don’t sell rotten meat.
Contacted for comment, Billy’s Meats official, William Mitchel, denied that they sold rotten meat, and dismissed the complainant as a drunken man.
“We do not sell rotten meat at all,” said William.
“Yes, there was a client who returned meat today (yesterday) claiming that it was bad.
“We discovered that he was drunk, and reimbursed his money,” he said.
