Sierra Leone 2-3 Zimbabwe
TWO second half goals by Marshall Munetsi and another by Tawanda Chirewa saw Zimbabwe salvage national pride with a win after trailing by two goals going into the break in a Group E match of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played in Morocco last night.
Zimbabwe had conceded two goals scored by Allie Conteh in the seventh minute nodding down a cross from the left that Elvis Chipezeze failed to deal with.
Sierra Leone appeared headed for a comfortable win when Sallieu Tarawalie scored in the 27th minute after the rearguard carved open again.
The introduction of Bill Antonio appeared to have added some urgency as Zimbabwe took the game to the hosts who opted to play in Morocco because they do not have a suitable stadium.
Munetsi pulled one back for Zimbabwe in the 72nd minute before Chirewa made it 2-2 in the 76th minute setting the stage for both countries to fight for the winner.
Munetsi came to the end of a cross from the left in the 88th minute to secure victory for Zimbabwe who face the Democratic Republic of Congo at the National Sports Stadium on Monday.
The Democratic Republic of Congo beat Equatorial Guinea 2-0 at the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshansa, DRC yesterday with Yoane Wissa scoring the second goal which secured victory.
Chancel Mbemba had opened the scoring with a header in the fourth minute.
