adminJohannesburg — The inaugural African Nations Championships winners the Democratic Republic of Congo, were the first team to arrive in South Africa when they flew into the country yesterday ahead of the tournament which gets underway in Cape Town on January 11.The Leopards will be based in Polokwane, playing in Group D alongside Gabon, Burundi and Mauritania.
“We are exactly 12 days to kick off and with the first team arriving, it is now clear that we are within touching distance to the start of the tournament,” CHAN CEO Mvuzo Mbebe said yesterday.
“All the ground work has been laid and as we await the arrival of the other 14 teams. We eagerly anticipate the kick off to a tournament that will celebrate Africa’s Home Champions.”
The rest of the teams expected to arrive in the country next week
Ticket prices start at R40 with the most expensive seats costing R200.
The January 11 to February 1 tournament takes place in Cape Town, at the Cape Town Stadium and Athlone Stadium for Group A and B respectively. Supersport.com
