A HARARE businessman is in the eye of a storm amid accusations that he is allegedly defrauding desperate job seekers after promising he will help them secure jobs on cruise ships.
Herbert Maganga is the owner of Omar Global Consultants, a company which runs a massage therapy school.
He charges a recruitment fee of between US$500 and US$1 000 for students to become massage therapists on cruise ships.
He also claims he has connections who can help his students to get jobs on cruise ships.
However, some of the students are claiming they did not get any of the things they were promised.
One of the students claimed she paid US$500 and was asked to submit copies of her passport photos and certificates but that was where the story ended.
Another student said:
“Some people also paid US$2000 and they were promised jobs and we were told that your performance in class would determine if you are going to the cruise ships earlier or not.
“His services ranged from training make-up artists, nail technicians, etc.”
Despite repeated efforts to get hold of Maganga for his comment, his mobile phone went unanswered.
A visit to his offices, located at Michael House along Nelson Mandela Avenue in Harare, also proved unsuccessful in terms of getting his side of the story.
