Dream Star Zim gets bigger

The talent search show which was launched last year as Zim Got Talent by the Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe in conjunction with ZLG has promised to be bigger and better this year. It has changed the original name after KeNako Media had claimed ownership of the name. Speaking to The Herald Entertainment, Dream Star Zimbabwe spokesperson Rumbidzai Matinanga said this year’s edition is going to be bigger and better as they are going to be having two semi-finals one in the capital and the other in Bulawayo.

“This year’s edition is going to be bigger, we have just changed the name but everything is still the same save for some developments we have added,

“Firstly, we are going to do the auditions in almost every province and we are going to have two semi-finals here in Harare and the other in Bulawayo in August,” she said.

She said the main idea of holding the semi-finals in the two provinces is to give a platform to almost every young star out there.

“This time we are widening our nets, we want to assist almost every hidden talent in Zimbabwe.”

Matinanga also said they had added value by bringing a mentor on board. “We are happy to announce that we have appointed a brand ambassador who is also a Zimbabwean star who has defied all odds musically and is an inspiration to many, he is also going to work with us in mentoring the young stars and he will be one of the judges in the finals.

“We are still finalising some things with him and we will be at liberty to disclose his name later on during the week,” she promised.

Meanwhile, 20 to 25 young stars from this year’s finals as well as last year’s top three are going for a cultural exchange in China where they will have at least three shows one in the capital Beijing, the other in Chengdu City while the third venue is still to be finalised.
