REAL Bettis Academy striker, Carl Magwede, says he is excited to have witnessed English Premier League and La Liga players live on Saturday evening.
The Academy players had the privilege to watch Real Betis playing a friendly game against Manchester United, which the hosts won 1-0.
Players like David de Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial featured in the game.
The nine-year-old St John’s Prep couldn’t hide his excitement.
“I was so happy to watch some of my idols playing.
“It’s a great experience for me as a young footballer and someone who also wants to become a professional footballer.
“Seeing big players with my own eyes is a dream come true.
“It is one of the moments I will cherish forever and all thanks to my parents who made sure that I take part in this trip, especially my dad who also accompanied me here to Spain.”
He added:
“I also want to thank the chairman, Gerald Sibanda, who made this trip happen and for nurturing our talent through his academy.
“Having to experience this is something every upcoming footballer wants.
“Watching the players live was quite an emotional moment for me because it’s different from watching on TV.
“I was so excited from the first whistle to the end.
“I enjoyed every moment of it and I’m so looking forward to every part of this educational tour.’
It won’t be the last big game he watches on this tour.
“We still have another game to watch and we will also have the opportunity to play games and learn more.
“My hope is to go back home and become a better player than I was before.
“This is an opportunity for me to learn more and appreciate the game of football more.”
A total of 24 Real Betis Academy players and three coaches, including head coach Murape Murape and director Sibanda, are on a 10-day trip to Spanish club Real Betis.
The touring party is also set to watch Betis’ friendly game against Inter Milan.
