DRIVERS at CAG Travellers Coaches gathered in Harare yesterday to celebrate Father’s Day.
The celebrations were held before the drivers embarked on journeys to various destinations.
Dr Afra Nhanhanga Chinhamu, who runs the company, said the event honoured male drivers while reinforcing their duty to transport passengers safely.
“Today, we are celebrating Father’s Day by honouring our drivers with some gifts as we remind them of their responsibilities,” said Dr Nhanhanga.
“We invited various church leaders of these drivers to bless them and also bless their passengers before their trips to various destinations.
“They play an important role in safeguarding the lives of passengers, families, friends and relatives as they travel from one place to the other.
“We are reminding drivers that they have to adhere to road rules and regulations, with people’s lives in mind, every time they take a seat behind the wheels.”
Dr Nhanhanga added:
“Every father is a driver of his family’s life.
“We are not honouring drivers only but all fathers because they are the drivers of their families as well.
“A message of protection must ring in their minds, when they pass through humps, potholes, curves and cross bridges, there is a message they have to take note of.
“We want responsible fathers who feed, protect and teach their families, fully aware that there is God’s eye taking care of them.”
The drivers and travellers were treated to free tea and lunch.
Dr Nhanhanga introduced a church service for CAG employees where various church leaders are invited to lead the services.
